Yutta Saftien
born 1963 in the Black Forest, today living and working in Hamburg, is an international acting artist.
She has studied fashion design at the school of arts in Bremen and was the student of Luis Murschetz, Nancy Spero and Leon Golub.
Her artwork includes drawings, paintings, photography, sculptures and installations.
With her artwork Yutta Saftien transgresses in an intented simple way the sphere of art and initiates a discussion including social-political aspects.
Especially with the world of the `Greenys´, which she is developing since 2002, she enters the field of global humanistic discussion.
1. Landart course, Summerartakademie 2010, Lienz / Austria (Osttirol)
From 31. July to 06. August 2010 Yutta Saftien has given a Landart course at the Summerartacademy of Lienz in Austria (Osttirol).
The intention of this course was to expierience the landscape around the academie and in the mountains, to find new perspectives to look at it and to express this views with the language of art. Discussion about what can be done in and with the landscape and what respectfully shouldn´t be done was one of the aspects of that course.
As Yutta Saftien´s artwork is rootet in the work with tixtiles, this course has included textile materials as one possibility to set landmarks in the landscape. There, where the landmarks remained, the materials where completely natural.
The colourful flowers at the pond of the academy where not made out of 100% natural materials, but in this case they will be removed after a while.

Bosporus-Greeny-Project postponed until 2011 or later!
Political circumstances and problems we face concerning the artists name unfortunately make it necessary to postpone the project into the year 2011 or later. Right now we do not know how long it will take to remove the problems and to open up doors again, which already seemed to be open. We feel very sorry for this development and hope, that all the helpers will keep on believing in the Bosporus-Greeny-Project and support it in future.
The team will not give up and keep on going the way to realize the project!!! whenever...

Last trip to Istanbul:
Yutta Saftien was in Istanbul from 30th of April until 3rd of May to discuss the current situation of the Bosporus-Greeny-Project with her team and to plan the next steps.
At this journey it became obviously, that, because of the political problems, the installation cannot be realized in 2010.
Fortunately during this journey Yutta Saftien could meet responsable members of the organizing comettee of `Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture´.
Many Thanks to the comettee members for their open minds and the support, that will help the project in future, specially to Mr. Murat Alemdar!
